Northwich Philatelic Society November Members Evening shows the diversity of collecting of members
As always, our members impressed at the last meeting of the calendar year, with people being invited to show from one item to three sheets.
We saw an amazingly eclectic collection of diverse subjects, proving once again that collecting is not about how much a stamp is worth, but about something that interests you personally.
For this meeting we saw;
- Rugby League Covers
- Falkland Islands covers
- Airmail Stamps and covers from Cameroun
- Postcards from Northwich and surrounding areas
- Cancels and varieties on Penny Lilacs
- Norwegian WWI internee mail
- Line Engraved Intaglio Stamps of St Lucia and Ascension Island
- The first unified Europa issues of 1956
- PHQ cards of Steam Engines
- Modern Medicine Foundation proofs
- Pre Stamp entires
It’s hard to imagine a meeting where you get to see such a diversity of collecting, than this one. Every person who showed material spoke eloquently about their material and in many cases, this was either a second or side collection to their main interests.
Philately, it seems, not only broadens the mind but encourages investigative thinking.
Thank you to all our members and guest and if you’d like to see material like this, feel free to come along to any of our future meetings.
