Happy New Year to all Stamp Collectors, wherever you may be
Our first meeting of 2020 was, as is now tradition, our Christmas party. Of course, with everyone looking to celebrate in December, venues are busy and rates go up, so our approach has always been to meet in January and celebrate the year that has passed and enjoyed some food, drink and a fiendishly hard quiz!
On top of this, we also had the annual competition, this year with a new winner.
The raffle was a huge success as always, raising a few pounds for club funds and ensuring most people went home with a prize on the evening.
The competition was won by a guest, which goes to show that you need no philatelic knowledge at all to enter our competition! Devised by our Secretary Carol, it was based on flags of the world (on stamps of course) and tested everyone’s general knowledge. And anyone who got more than one right was considered to be doing well!
The prize plate for best display went to Neil, pictured below, who stole the show with a display of Christmas stamps from 1966-2018.
