Members’ Evening – What’s New?
In a departure from previous seasons, this year we have introduced a meeting which allows members the opportunity to show others what’s new in their collections. With this being the first one it was hard to say what might be shown but true to form, lots of our members stepped up and displayed a range of material from their collections. It was fascinating to see just how diverse the collecting interests of our members are and what’s currently catching their eye, philatelically speaking.
The photos below show you a range of material that members displayed and as you can see, there are no rules or requirements to the display. From a single stamp, which one member bought, to a range of written up pages, everyone is welcome to display anything they like. We even had a book of postcards and an Esperanto dictionary! The whole evening included:
- African First flight covers
- French Cameroun covers and stamps
- Airmail Stamps and covers
- Unusual George V covers
- Postcards and other ephemera
- GB Slogan Cancels
- Oil Rivers Protectorate and Niger Coast
- Modern registered Mail with Border Force seals
- Bermuda Parish postmarks
- Norwegian postcards and cancels
- Australian Souvenir cards
- George VI Arms series – flaws on the 2/6 value
The evening was a huge success so we will be repeating this one at some time in the near future.
