Members Evening – Letters S & T shows just how creative we can be!
Members evening are always a treat at Northwich Philatelic Society, not least of which because we get to see gems from the philatelic world that might otherwise sit hidden in albums.
No matter the scarcity or rarity of the stamps and covers show, the sheer variety is always a job.
This month the theme was letters ‘S’ and/or ‘T’ and members didn’t disappoint. With a huge range of topics and some interesting liberties taken with interpretation we saw the following;
Air Service flights featuring Seahorses to South America, Stamp centenary of USA 1947, The Blue Train of South Africa, Six Sheets of Sixties Spain, Stamps of Sweden, A variety of covers with S or T titles (including Safety at Sea), Schilling Stamps of Norway, Transport on USA stamps, Hull Ship letter marks and finally Tea on postcards and stamps.
Members enjoyed the display and the fact that the meeting was held during the day instead of in the evening. The change in time was welcomed by many as a pleasant alternative to heading out on a cold February evening.
As always, images of the displays are shown below so enjoy!
