Paul Gaywood Lecture 2022 – a date for your diary
The Paul Gaywood Lecture will be given this year by Hugh Jefferies (former editor of Gibbons Stamp Monthly and currently catalogue editor) on 19 April at the Larkhill Centre, Thorley Lane, Timperley. The lecture is of particular interest as it is hosted by one of our other local societies, Trafford Philatelic Society. The title of Hugh’s talk will be ‘The Stanley Gibbons Catalogue; Past, Present and Future’.
The most obvious symbol of Hugh’s current work is the iconic ‘Part 1’ catalogue, issued annually in September, or to give it a more formal title “The Commonwealth & British Empire Stamps Catalogue 1840-1970”. His work compiling this, and many other of the Stanley Gibbons catalogues, will be of interest to anyone who collects stamps.
The evening will start at 7.30pm, hosted by Trafford PS at the Larkhill Centre, Thorley Lane, Timperley WA15 7AZ. The Larkhill Centre is located near the crossroads in the centre of Timperley. There is a large public car park adjacent to the Centre which is free after 6pm. There is limited parking for those with mobility problems immediately in front of the Centre. The following map may be of use for those travelling by car.
