Members night May 2024 – what’s new?
As is now customary, towards the end of the season we allow members to show everyone what’s new in their collections. Many of our members have specific collecting areas, some of which are incredibly hard to obtain, so new material is often something to be celebrated.
This evening was no exception.
Some had lucky auction wins, others material that had been long sought and only just surfaced for their collections, whilst some were discovery pieces. What was remarkable was the sheer scope of material and how it fitted into everyone’s collection. On display were items from British Protectorate Oil Rivers, Papua New Guinea covers, Registration labels, Niger Coast, Australian Exhibition ephemera, modern GB postage dues (including the new Dutch letter code prepayment for envelopes), Norwegian mail and postcards, Balloon Mail, South African stamps collections including Nyassaland, Natal and Transvaal, Seahorse stamps on flight covers, Barbados postal stationery and postcards, and maps. Quite a selection!
The photographs below give an idea of the type of material that was shown.
